For whom is OMNi-LOGiC® IMMUNE suitable?
Apart from the tasks of food ingestion and the elimination of indigestible residues, our intestine is very important for our immune system. About 80% of the immune cells are located in our intestine. There is a life-long, intensive symbiosis between our body and its bacterial cohabitants. However, this relationship can be negatively influenced by the wrong diet, permanent stress, lack of sleep or medication intake. The natural balance in the colonisation of “good” and “bad” intestinal bacteria gets out of control, our intestinal barrier, the intestinal mucosa, becomes permeable for toxins, allergens and foreign microorganisms – our immune defence system is weakened.
Certain bacteria in the colon, namely bifidobacteria and lactobacilli, produce among other things butyrate (butyric acid, a short-chain fatty acid), which is the primary energy source for our intestinal epithelium. If this epithelium is well supplied, it can carry out its diversified functions, which include the targeted inclusion of nutrients as well as the defence against toxins and pathogens. If the butyric acid level falls, on the other hand, changes occur in the intestinal mucosa, and our intestinal barrier is weakened.
